The core cold box for the argon recovery system, designed and built by LifenGas for RIL’s solar silicon chip plant in India, has completed manufacturing and testing and is ready for shipment. This marks a key milestone in India’s fully integrated “quartz-to-module” photovoltaic value chain project.
Enabling Sustainable Manufacturing with Closed-Loop Innovation
RIL's 10GW solar manufacturing complex aims to establish a complete production chain from polysilicon and wafers to cells, modules, and solar glass. High-purity argon is essential in critical processes like crystal pulling, but argon’s cost is substantial in India. LifenGas's solution captures impurity-laden argon from the production line, purifies it, and returns it for reuse. This closed-loop system significantly reduces operational costs, lessens dependency on external supply, and supports a greener manufacturing model.
The system is designed for a capacity of 4,300 Nm³/h with an argon recovery rate of ≥97% at full load, representing industry-leading performance. The integrated process—from collection and compression to purification, drying, cryogenic distillation, and repressurization—ensures a reliable supply of high-purity argon back to RIL's production lines.

Argon recovery is LifenGas's foundational and core technology, pioneered and perfected in the Chinese market. Project Advances with Key Equipment Lead
With the cold box now en route, other core self-manufactured components like the dust removal and purification units are also ready for shipment to the Indian site.
